2013 AGM
Hello all;
Even though it may be 2014 we still need to have our club annual general meeting for 2013. I suggest we have it at our home on January 28, 2014 at 7:00 pm.
We need to review the financial statements for 2013 to see where we are at when we start 2014.
We also need to get an executive in place for 2014. Would anyone who is interested in being on the Club executive for 2014 please contact me so that we might discuss the different positions?
We need to put our minds to events in 2014 including club rides and races. We are able to host the BC Provincial Youth Road Race Championship on June 7, 2014 and the BC Provincial Youth and Senior Time Trial Championship on June 8, 2014. In light of hosting those events we should start discussing how we can best put on excellent races.
We are at 6046 Aldergrove Drive, Courtenay. That is a bit out of town in the Kitty Coleman area.
Please email me or call at 250-338-6086.

Time Trial Series Data
Hi All,
A club member has taken the past 6 years of time trial results and produced a very cool time trial database. You can select the the course, the rider, the time trial to see who raced, what the times were, and even the overall time trial rankings per year. It is a very cool database, found here.
If you find any problems with your times, please double check the respective years time trial results, found on the right hand side of the page, if the result is incorrect there. Please email me the correction at Doug_Merrick@hotmail.com, odds are I input it incorrectly into the spreadsheet initially.
Cheers

Dove Creek Omnium Race Report and Results!
Hi All,
The Comox Valley Cycle Clubs annual Dove Creek Omnium had 53 riders enjoy sunny weather, great racing, and a successful fundraiser for Lac Megantic
Festivities started out Saturday morning with the Royston criterium; in Category C local rider Isaac Van der Vliet took the win over Victoria rider Brenna Pauly and other riders. In the Saturday afternoon 8 km Burns Road time trial Isaac and Brenna repeated the feat on the tough course to finish in 14:01 and 14:58. The Sunday Morning 52km Dove Creek road race the young duo dropped the two older riders with Isaac attacking on the hill only to have Brenna claw the distance back and pipping him at the line.
In Category B the Saturday criterium contested by 16 riders had many attacks and came down to out of town riders John Guthrie and Nick Kupiak, local rider Aaron Milan take 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. The time trial consisted of two laps of Burns Road (16.2 km) was won by local rider Kent Duncan in a time of 26:14. The final Sunday road race on Dove Creek went for 69 km and had attacks from the start. Local rider Damian Parlee initiated the final breakaway and was quickly joined by local rider Doug Merrick and out of town Nick Kupiak, in the final run up to the line Nick took the win over Damian after Doug came off the pace on the final climb.
In Category A criterium the 24 starters attacked from the get-go with solo attacks and team tactics, in the final to the line club alumni Jordan Duncan took the win over team-mate Alex Amiri (Russ Hay's/Accent Inn cycling Team). In the afternoon time trial Jordan again took the win in a blistering time of 24:08 with over half a minute over 2nd place Kerry White. In the 86 km Sunday morning road race had breakaway attacks and counterattacks. The final breakaway initiated by Russ Hay's/Accent Inn rider Craig Lunn took a couple other riders for the last couple of laps. On the final lap Craig dropped the rest of the riders as the charging pack swallowed all but himself and Matt Billinghurst, the bunch sprint won by Alex Amiri and Jordan Duncan.
The Saturday Evening BBQ fundraiser raised $600 for the town of Lac Megantic in Quebec and was enjoyed by both riders and volunteers. Food and draw prizes were donated by Quality Foods, Cariboo Brewing, Trail Bicycles, and Audrey Erlandson's Bi-Cycled Jewelry
